Photo of the month for December 2020 by Don Hudson, as voted by BME members.

Some words from Don about the photo:

"Tiger Stadium, Detroit, 1983. Back in 1983 the Detroit Tigers had a great baseball team, and they won it all a year later in 1984. I was a big fan back then and went to a number of games at the old Tiger Stadium, which was torn down in 2008-9. This photo was taken during batting practice before the game. Early arriving fans would often gather in the outfield stands to see if they could snag balls hit over the fence. I happened to be in the right place at the right time to snag a catch of my own. I might add that I possessed a younger man's reflexes back then."

Photo of the month for November 2020 by Lukas Vasilikos, as voted by BME members.

Some words from Lukas about the photo:

‘‘It was during summertime, and the setting sun was shedding its beautiful color palette everywhere. We had just got back to our hotel room, when I noticed not just that very light, but also the shapes forming at the window of the room. So, I started taking photographs of that but, at the same time, I had the feeling that something was quite not there…And there it was, resting on my daughter’s face. A few moments later, the light was gone, and the magic it had just created left with it.’’

Some words from Lukas about the photo:

‘‘Τhe photo was taken at a wedding on Crete Island last summer. Every wedding is a great opportunity to take photos no questions asked; you are immersed in the process. The party that followed was full of energy; the atmosphere of the venue was illuminated with beams of light and the smoke effect made it even more interesting altogether.. What I tried to do was take advantage of the setting to compose a photograph that was to my liking.’’

Photo of the month for September 2020 by TC Lin, as voted by BME members.

Some words from TC about the photo:

‘‘Every day I cross a historic suspension bridge built nearly a century ago by the Japanese. It spans a body of water called "Bitan" or "Green Lake" because the waters are often brilliant shades of green due to the mineral content, the light, and nearby vegetation. People swim up and down the "lake" (it is actually part of a river) in the morning, and I often take their photos from the bridge. On this occasion I saw an older swimmer sporting bright red goggles that matched the green water perfectly, and snapped a shot just as he was facing upward as he swam by underneath, into the shadow of the bridge.’’

‘‘This was one of the last pictures I made at the airport in Miami in December 2019, after attending the Miami Street Photography Festival. It's tricky even for me to know what's going on in it, but if I remember well, there were big painted murals in front and behind me, and the glass of the escalators was responsible for this kaleidoscope.’’

Which finally became 24 days since magic things regarding photography happened. I don’t really remember the story of this photo. I just remember it was shot in Jaisalmer.’’

Some words from TC about the photo:

'‘Masks have for some time been mandatory inside all public transport in Taiwan. I was taking the escalator at a metro station in Taipei recently when I noticed a couple on the next escalator, playing with each other's hair. I thought this was cute and brought my camera up when they exchanged a brief "kiss" through their matching black masks. I didn't think much about it until, not long after I'd posted the shot online, I got a message from the man in the photo, saying he and his girlfriend were the couple in the shot, and how much they loved it. Of course I sent them a copy. It was a wonderful feeling and really made my day.'‘

Some words from TC about the photo:

''I was recently at the Dizang Temple in Xinzhuang, Taiwan; it was a busy day with crowds of worshippers, and as I observed a group of people chanting near the altar, a woman brushed by me. I noticed that she was not only holding both a baby and a handful of incense, her arms were also heavily tattooed. The sight struck me as mothers come in all shapes, sizes and colors, and the figures etched on her skin seemed to be surrounding the child with her mission of protection.''

Some words from Dimitris about the photo:

‘‘This photo is taken in a very popular spot in Prague, many married couples get photographed next to the swans. In such scenes, and while shooting, I constantly think and ask myself: What more can you do than the wedding photographer does right now? What can you do to make this more than the regular wedding shot? In this photo, I decided to include the lower part to reflect the necks of the swans and place the bride in the middle of the frame. And accidentally, there was this pigeon there too. I hope I achieved something more than a pretty wedding shot here. What I achieved for sure was to break the balls of the wedding photographer, I flashed around 20 times to get this frame.’’

Photo of the month for April 2020 by Kanrapee Chokpaiboon, as voted by BME members.

Some words from Kanrapee about the photo:

‘‘At that time, New York had a snowstorm. So New York authorities are announcing the people to warn of this situation and preparing to close all subway lines. From my side, I hurried to bring the camera and traveled to Coney Island which takes a 40-minute train ride from the city. I walked to the coast and saw these flocks of birds, so I hurriedly went to take some shots. To summarize that day, I had to be stuck on Coney Island for hours. I had to wait for the snowstorm to calm down until the subway began to open again.’’
