For February 2020, 3 photos shared the first place for photo of the month, as voted by BME members. This is the second of the 3 photos, by Dimitris Makrygiannakis.
Some words from Dimitris about the photo:
“Prague is currently the city where I travel to shoot. Between 2018 and 2019 I took 3 trips to make a project about cemeteries in Prague. Days at the cemeteries were quiet and very focused and many late afternoons around sunset time I made sure to finish my day at this beautiful spot next to and looking directly at the famous touristic spot of Prague, Charles Bridge. A smoke and a time to relax, looking at the most lively bridge in the city (and probably one of the most lively pedestrian bridges on the earth) and looking at life after long days in the cemeteries. Swans for me are a symbol of beauty and life. I made my first swan photo on a lake next to the hospital where my son was born premature and stayed 2.5 months in hospital fighting for his life. Life and beauty, and the beauty of life came together that moment. Since then I fell in love with swans. And I always try to shoot them when I find some nice opportunity. This spot in Prague is full of swans. That night I brought together a bride and a swan, the swan stealing the beauty of the bride in my eyes. Marriage, life. Beauty. Beauty of life again. A nice contrast to my ongoing project during those days.“
