Some words from Efi about the photo:

“This photo was taken in Schwerin, Germany. On the weekends, I leave Berlin mainly to be close to nature and continue the personal photo project I've been working on for the last few years. When I got to the city, it started to rain, but that didn't stop me. I visited a palace there and then started walking along a lake. When I was nearing the end of my walk and began to hurry towards the car, I saw something that caught my attention. I noticed a large white frame in the distance, and I looked into it as I approached. An older woman posed with a young girl for a photo. What a beautiful picture, I thought! A souvenir photo of grandmother and granddaughter in a white frame in the middle of nowhere.

“Rahmen”

Schwerin, 2024.”

Some words from Efi about the photo:

“The moon glade

It's late July, and we're on vacation and walking along the coast. My daughter is cheerful, runs, dances, and plays with stones and gravel. She asks me why tonight the moon is big, if this path on the sea is a sparkling road that leads there, if the fish can fall asleep with such light if we only that night and no other night can sleep on the moon because her legs are tired and she cannot walk to the hotel. Finally, while she usually doesn't want me to photograph her, she asks me to take a photo of her next to the moon.

Greece, 2023.”

In this project, I document our journey together in a state of dreams.  Berlin, 2023.”

Some words from Efi about the photo:

“On my first walk in the city aquarium, enchanted by the unimpeded movement of beautiful captive fish on their glass borders, I took many photos. After a while, however, I lowered the camera because I felt that this way, I did not enter their world, and I did not observe them, but instead, I collected photos that I may never look at again. Only then did my walk begin to make sense. At one point, I saw a ray swimming flapping its wings in a bird-like motion, and then a girl moving with him, excited. It was like a dance between them that lasted quite some time and set my mood and made me laugh. When the girl extended her hand towards it, I picked up the camera and took this photo.”

Some words from Efi about the photo:

“I took this photo in a park outside of Berlin that hosts many animals. There I saw flamingos for the first time in my life. I immediately wanted to photograph them. The first photos were just for the memory until my glance fell on the glass with their reflection, creating the illusion that the fences and their boundaries no longer existed.”

Some words from Efi about the photo:

“This photo I took this year in a ‘Badestrand’, a bathing beach located in Berlin. After the quarantine due to a pandemic, it was the first time that I was among so many people, and that caused contradictory feelings to me. Many families were there relaxing, enjoying the sun, or swimming carefree. I started taking pictures of the beach, the swimmers, and I remember saying to myself, finally back to life and normalcy. When I suddenly saw a mermaid sitting on the shore pensive and keeping distance from others. Do they exist? I am sure they do.”

Some words from Efi about the photo:

''Cats, in particular, benefit from the corona crisis and the home office''. It is Sunday morning, and this is the title of an article I read, among others concerning the pandemic. It appears that 38 percent fewer cats have come to the Berlin animal shelter than in the same period last year because people feel lonely and they want the company of a cat. With these thoughts in my mind, I am going for a walk, and while I am crossing by an architect's office, I see a cat at the vitrine looking at me. It is the first time I see her there. The office is closed, the cat is alone, and I can not help by thinking that humans never asked these creatures what they want. Maybe they want instead to be free and climb up to the trees.

Some words from Efi about the photo:

“This statue belongs to the Schlosspark Charlottenburg in Berlin, and it is located among the trees overlooking the River Spree. The day I took this photo, I was already walking for an hour in the woods to enjoy the snow, but mostly to breathe fresh air. When it started to get darker, I took the way home. I was utterly alone, and suddenly I saw this familiar statue in front of me, and I approached to admire it. It was so beautiful with this light and so different from any time I saw it. I photographed it mainly to remember this walk with snow and the days of the pandemic.”
